Inspired by the long lots of New Orleans and the linearity of the Lafitte Greenway, Wild Striations amplifies the Greenway’s linearity while breaking down the massive scale of the space. A main thoroughfare runs through the site, with green spaces branching off of it. To break up the scale and reconnect both sides of the site, eight forebay bridges are placed along the street grid. Each green space includes a bioswale to retain excess water during heavy rainfall. The pavers and forebays blend parabolic and straight lines, creating a higher elevation at the center to push water into drainage points at the end of each paver. The forebay components follow the same pattern, with striations allowing water to leak out and run along the grooves.
