Composed of coordinating lightwells and porch spaces, Porous Playland explores the relationships between voids and corresponding vertical spaces. Operating as a cohousing community for young professionals and new families, the urban block houses 68 units, each averaging 1,360 ft², along with a coworking space on the ground floor. Each unit features a patio connected to either an interior lightwell or an exterior view of the surrounding city. The ground floor includes a gym, laundry room, and coworking spaces. These spaces contain breakout rooms, computer labs, and lounge areas tailored for a professional lifestyle. They serve as amenities for the community’s inhabitants and the surrounding area, generating income for the community.
